Pre Trials

Are these games televised? Lot of new and younger teams I would really like to see instead of the usual suspects.

Curling Canada is streaming the games throughout the week on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/curlingcanada/videos. Today's games are Jestyn Murphy vs Krista McCarville at 5 pm Atlantic and Tanner Horgan vs Jeremy Harty at 9 pm Atlantic. Here's the broadcast schedule link: https://www.curling.ca/youtube-streaming-schedule/.

How many qualifiers are there from each event? (Mens' Womens') I kinda dislike these qualification events because the games at the bottom end become meaningless. Has that been addressed?

I'm pulling for Galusha (because it would be awesome to have both Koes on the Trials) and Anderson on the women's side, and for the men's, Howard and Fournier.

Frankly this pretrial nonsense is a waste of taxpayers dough. The field is 90% C caliber players who have absolutely no hope of winning the trials let alone performing well at the Olympics. Stick to the bonspiel circuit.

Don't see a future Canadian champion amongst these women but it's within the realm of possibility that Tardi or Calvert have the talent, skills and motivation to exceed in the Brier over the next five years or so.

Pulling for Horgan, Tardi and Calvert to get some youth in the men's.
Pulling for Anderson and McCarvile as both are such class acts. Wouldn't mind Brown or Zacharias as they are next gen and any experience will benefit them down the road like it will the other 3.

Good choices. Agree. I am pulling for Calvert. Maybe Flasch too.

Big lopsided scores this morning. What’s up with Gunner’s team these days? Losing to Fournier like that is a bit of a surprise

7-3 and you loose 8-7. Zach needs a lesson in how to play with a 4 shot lead.

Harrison has a strong pedigree of experience on that team. Hers being the most modest. The rest have curled with and as champions. Hungry crew. Ali, Lynn and yes, Hickey too who has played the league at vice and 2nd and is a smart experienced lead. I think this crew has no butterflies anymore. Zach blew the lead. Hard to come back after a 4-pounce, but don't count them out. I think Harrison has a strong bid at the first birth here.

I’ll say! Talk about gifting McCarville big time! Horgan also tried to give Fleming a gift too giving up 3 in 9 to tie the game. But fortunately he can draw.

It sure wasn’t the “how”. It was the 3 wide open flashes.

Fiver! Here is where experience comes to play. Complacent? Aggressive? Defensive? Harrison squad knows those were earned on misses (am not seeing video) not just on their strength. I see them walking forward swapping ones for Birth#1. Key: give up no more deuces. McCarville is patient. Fact well known.

Hah. Tied up. Who wants it worse? I always respect McCarville's path. Nobody thinks for her.

Maybe they covered it on the broadcast and I missed it but what's with the rings on the rock handles?

Apparently it has to do with the rock handle's light sensors they key to turn them on/off (they're tinkering with them on the run-up to the Trials and were turned off in the RR).

All this praise for McCarville. When I see her beat the top world teams at a Grand Slam, then I’ll believe all the hype.

Only 3 women's team on the trial list would ever have a chance to medal at the Olympics.
