Jennifer Jones Rises Up - AGAIN

Did not see this one coming. Jennifer Jones & partner Brent Laing won the Canad Inns Mixed Doubles championship last weekend in Portage.

Gruelling event - Jones won all 5 of her round-robin games then went on a 3 game playoff tear to take the duke.

Amazing, given Jones relatively mediocre record in mixed curling. Combine that with her recent sour play in regular ladies pro curling and we have ourselves a mystery.

But good to see. A clarion call to others in the game that Jennifer is definitely not finished and is very capable of going Hot-Run Jones at any given event.

3 things now very important for JJ:

1. Qualifying for next year's Olympic Trials
2. Manitoba Scotties - being able to stand up to Einarson & Fleury (and others) in a reduced Manitoba field and getting a chance at a record-breaking 7th STOH title.
3. STOH - where more than just Rachel Homan lurks; but I have to say its at least 60% Homan* that represents the biggest threat to Jones.

*Homan and 2nd Jo Courtney coming back from having kids this summer haven't exactly set the world on fire either. Perhaps gliding back into full-throttle competition on a gradual basis, who knows. When right, they're absolute monsters. When slightly off, they're indifferent at best.
