Winnipeg's Kaitlyn Lawes (photo: Michael Burns, Curling Canada) won 6-4 over Edmonton's Selena Sturmay on Friday. Lawes won the all-important draw for hammer to open the game, using the advantage to blank the first end. In the second end, Lawes made the draw for two to get on the scoreboard, then stole single points in the third and fourth ends to lead 4-0. Sturmay, playing a more open fifth end, made the hit for two points.
