Black Kicks Off Busy Season

Christina Black with Jill Brothers at third, Jenn Baxter, Marlle Powers and Karlee Everist on the front end look to have another epic season.

Last season, Black made impressive improvements, grabbing a third-place finish at the Scotties, Tournament of Hearts, winning the Grand Slam of Curling Tier 2 event, making playoffs in their first-ever Grand Slam of Curling Tier 1 event and winning 5 of their 9 events.

Starting last season off at #32 in the world rankings, Black stormed quickly to #15, claiming their spot in the first Grand Slam of Curling at the WFG Masters in London, Ontario. They also grabbed a direct spot to the Canadian Olympic Trials in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, Ontario.

They kick off their 2025-2026 season in Morris, Manitoba, at the Asham Ice Breaker Challenge. Starting on Friday, they will face Manitoba's Caitlyn McPherson at 5:00 p.m. Atlantic Time (AT) and Minneapolis Kim Rhyme at 11:00 p.m. AT. Round Robin wraps up on Saturday with games against Blaine's Allory Johnson at 2:00 p.m. AT and Manitoba's Kate Cameron at 8:00 p.m. AT. Playoffs continue on Sunday with quarterfinals, semi-finals and the finals.
