Lawes into Playoffs in Edmonton
![]() Winnipeg's Kaitlyn Lawes (Andrew Klaver, Curling Canada) finishes 4-1 in the Saville Shootout round-robin to book a place in Monday's quarterfinals. Lawes, with Selena Njegovan, Jocelyn Peterman and Kristin MacCuish, faces Gracelyn Richards of Edmonton in Monday morning's quarterfinals, starting at 8:30 am Mountain Time, while Korea's Eun-ji Gim plays Momoha Tabata of Japan in the same half of the 8-team championship bracket. Lawes opened the competition on Friday with an 8-3 win over Serena Gray-Withers of Edmonton, then losing 8-4 against Tabitha Peterson of St. Paul, Minnesota. Lawes played once on Saturday, taking a 6-1 decision from Regina's Michelle Englot, then won twice on Sunday with a 6-4 win over Richards, then a 6-3 win over Edmonton's Myla Plett. Ikue Kitazawa of Japan plays Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba, on the other half of the bracket, while Plett's junior phenoms take on Satsuki Fujisawa of Japan. All playoff games will be streamed and available through CurlingZone's Youtube channel. |
