By Frank Roch Felix Asselin and his team from Montreal have moved to 3-0 at the Tour Challenge Tier 2 event with a 9-5 over Team Jacques of Edmonton in the Thursday afternoon draw. The game was tied 5-5 after six ends before Team Asselin scored two in the 7th, then stole two more in the 8th to seal the win. It has been a solid start to the slam for Asselin, who started the week with a solid 10-3 win over Kody Hartung followed by a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over Karsten Sturmay. Asselin has long been viewed as the future of Quebec curling. He spent several years playing on a team skipped by Mike Fournier before taking over the skipping reigns. The team is off to a solid start, having won an event in Valleyfield earlier this season and reaching the semifinals in their only other event, played in Ottawa. Team Asselin will wrap up their round-robin schedule on Friday morning versus Team Kim of Korea, currently 0-3. Team Asselin has not qualified for the playoffs yet in Grand Prairie, but they have certainly put themselves on the inside track heading into the final day of round-robin play. |
