Ottawa's Team Rachel Homan got their 2022 Champions Cup campaign off to a solid start, with the rink picking up a 5-4 victory against Tracy Fleury in Draw 3 on Tuesday night.

Team Homan would open Tuesday's draw with a steal of one in the first end, after which Fleury would get on the board with a score of two in the second.

End number three would see the team from Ottawa put up their first deuce of the game, taking a slim three to two lead.

The fourth end would see Fleury's rink tie things up at three-apiece, with the team from Manitoba settling for a single point. Heading into the break the game was all square, making for an interesting second half.

Coming back in five, Team Homan would be forced to the single, taking a slim 4-3 lead but returning the hammer to Fleury heading into the sixth end.

Team Fleury would once again be forced to one in six, tying the game at four-all with just two ends to go.

The seventh end would see Team Homan make a hit to score one, putting the rink ahead 5-4 but giving the hammer back to Fleury, with the rink from East St. Paul down by just one heading home.

Team Homan would go on to steal a single point in the eighth end, securing the rink a 6-4 victory to start the week.

With today's win, Homan officially gets her 2022 Champions Cup off to a winning start, with the rink one of six teams tied at 1-0 after one full day of competition.

Today's game was also an interesting matchup, as Fleury will join Team Homan next season after her current rink disbands this spring.

Up next for Team Homan is a Wednesday afternoon matchup against Manitoba's Team Einarson in Draw 5. Wednesday's game will mark the 30th matchup between the two skips, with Homan currently leading the series with 19 wins. Einarson, however, has won the last three contests, including a 6-2 victory at last month's Players' Championship in Toronto.

This week in Olds, Homan is looking to earn her fourth-career Champions Cup crown. A victory would be extra special for Homan's lead Joanne Courtney, as the Alberta native is set to depart the Ottawa-based rink at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Team Fleury will look to rebound on Wednesday evening as they take on Korea's Team Gim in Draw 6.
