Switzerland's Alina Paetz and Sven Michel are through to the playoffs at the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, with the pair securing a 9-2 victory over Korea in the final draw of the round-robin on Thursday afternoon in Geneva.

The Swiss duo dominated today's game from the outset, scoring three points in the first end, and then stealing two in both the second and third.

Team Korea finally got on the board in the fourth end with KIM Minji making a draw to score two. At the break, Switzerland held an impressive 7-2 lead.

Coming back in five, Paetz and Michel would be forced to settle for a single point, with the pair making a hit for one to lead 8-2.

With her last shot in six, KIM Minji was wide, giving Switzerland a steal of one. The Koreans would concede after that, handing the Swiss a 9-2 victory.

Following today's win, Paetz and Michel are through to this weekend's playoffs, with the pair securing first place in Group A with a 7-2 record on the week.

"We played the best game all week from ourselves so it was a good win and we're happy," Paetz said after the game.

"We really enjoyed the crowd, [the] spectators are once-again fantastic and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow and some nice games," added Michel.

With their 7-2 record and performance in the last shot draw challenge, Paetz and Michel will earn a bye into Friday evening's semifinals, with the pair enjoying some much-needed rest this evening and early tomorrow.

This year's tournament marks Paetz and Michel's first appearance at Worlds since the pair won gold in Saint Paul in 2011. At last year's championship in Aberdeen, Scotland, Team Switzerland, led by Jenny Perret and Martin Rios, made it to the playoffs where they lost to Canada in the qualification round.

Other Draw 17 results saw Sweden and Norway secure the final playoff spots from Group A, with Sweden defeating Japan 8-5 and Norway picking up a decisive 9-1 win against New Zealand, to advance to Friday's qualification draw.

Thursday evening's Draw 18 will see Group B take to the ice for the final game of the round-robin, with the one playoff spot still up for grabs.
