By Connor Simms, Brad Gushue, with Mark Nichols at third, Brendan Bottcher and Geoff Walker on the front end, will look to climb their playoff hump and get into the win for the first time this season. In the last three events, Gushue found themselves eliminated in the quarterfinals. Losing the Kioti National to Alberta's Brad Jacobs, The RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown to Matt Dunstone, and most recently losing out to Sweden's Niklas Edin at the Astec Safety Challenge. Although Gushue has yet to find an event win, they are 9 for 9 in qualifying for the playoffs, making three finals. This Grand Slam event marks the first "draft" to pick who you play against. The top four teams selected who they would face off against. Gushue had the fourth pick in the snake draft, selecting Norway's Magnus Ramsfjell, Germany's Marc Muskatewitz, Scotland's Ross Whyte, and lastly, they had to choose another top-four team in a crossover game, picking Switzerland's Yannick Schwaller. The schedule came out after the draft for who they play was completed. In their opening game, they will face Ramsfjell on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). On Wednesday, they will play Muskatewitz at 6:30 p.m. ET. The round-robin continues on Thursday when they take on Whyte at 8:00 a.m. ET. In their final round-robin game, they will face Schwaller at 11:30 a.m. ET. All the action continues, with the quarterfinals and semi-finals happening on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
