To advance to the championship game, Mooibroek won 9-7 over Julien Tremblay (Quebec, QC) in the semifinals of the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada;
Mooibroek finished 4-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek defeated Paul Flemming (Halifax, NS) 7-6, then won 10-1 against Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS) and 7-3 against Greg Smith (St. John's, NL). Mooibroek won 7-6 against Taylor Ardiel (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
