Gosgens lost 5-3 to Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) where Gosgens responded with a 8-5 win over Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Gosgens won 7-5 against Shinya Abe (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 7-5 against Anton Hood (Naseby, NZL) in their final qualifying round match.

Gosgens earned 20.625 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
