Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI) lost 8-6 to Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) in the Final of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Western Showdown, held December 7 - 10, 2023 at the Swift Current Curling Club in Swift Current, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Brunner won 5-4 over Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2023 Nutrien Ag Solutions Western Showdown in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 4-3 over Catlin Schneider (Victoria, BC) in the quarterfinals.

Brunner finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brunner defeated Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) 7-3, then won 6-4 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Brunner went on to lose 6-5 against Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON). Brunner lost 9-8 to Steve Laycock (Swift Current, SK) where Brunner responded with a 8-3 win over Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Western Showdown, Brunner take home 33.000 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN prize. Brunner move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 15 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 14th overall with 191.141 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Brunner ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 147.125 points earned so far this season.
