Kotaro Noguchi (Japan) finished 3-4 in the 9 team ZEH-NOH Japan Curling Championship qualifying round, held January 28 - February 5, 2023 in , . In their opening game, Noguchi lost 11-2 to Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN), droppimg another game, 10-2 to Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN). Noguchi lost 12-4 to Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN). Noguchi lost 9-6 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) where Noguchi responded with a 9-5 win over Takanori Ichimura (Nagano, JPN). Noguchi won 9-5 against Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN), then won 11-5 against Ryo Ogihara (Tokyo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Noguchi earned 3.938 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 27 of the event schedule, Noguchi did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Noguchi ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
