Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) lost 5-4 to Manuel in the Final of the Nova Scotia Tankard, held January 24 - 30, 2023 at the Bluenose CC in New Glasgow, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Purcell won 8-7 over Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2023 Nova Scotia Tankard in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada;

Purcell finished 4-2 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Purcell defeated Nicholas Deagle (Bridgewater, NS) 9-2, then won 8-3 against Peter Burgess (Truro, NS) and 5-4 against Paul Flemming (Halifax, NS). Purcell won 6-3 against Stuart Thompson (Halifax, NS). Purcell went on to lose 6-3 against Manuel. Purcell lost 9-7 to Flemming in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Nova Scotia Tankard, Purcell take home 11.000 world rankings points. Purcell move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 5 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 39th overall with 97.476 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
