Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER) won 7-4 over Asuka Kanai (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the WCT-Japan New Year Medalist Curling, held December 30 - January 1, 2023 in Miyota, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Jentsch won 8-4 over Sayaka Yoshimura (Sapporo, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2022 WCT-Japan New Year Medalist Curling in Miyota, Japan; and won 6-5 over Isabelle Ladouceur (Waterloo, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 WCT-Japan New Year Medalist Curling in Miyota, Japan;

Jentsch finished 2-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jentsch lost 7-1 to Kanai, then responded with a 8-5 win over Yuri Nakajima (Miyota, JPN). Jentsch won 9-3 against 's in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the WCT-Japan New Year Medalist Curling Championship title, Jentsch earned 18.750 world rankings points along with the $10,449CDN first prize cheque. Jentsch move up 6 spots after posting a net gain of 14.625 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 142.108 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
