Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) lost 6-4 to Takumi Maeda (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, held August 18 - 21, 2022 in Hokkaido, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Morozumi won 7-2 over Japan's Kotaro Noguchi in the semifinals
 
Morozumi finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi defeated Japan's Juon Ishimura 12-4, then won 9-2 against Toshiya Iida (Ikeuikan, JPN) and 7-3 against Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, Morozumi take home 11.000 world rankings points along with the $500,000CDN prize, moving up 17 spots the World Ranking Standings into 49th place overall with 52.662 total points. Morozumi ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.000 points earned so far this season.
