Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2022 ATB Okotoks Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-4 against Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB).

Sturmay finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Jacques Gauthier (Victoria, BC) 7-2, then won 8-6 against Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay went on to lose 8-3 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon , SK). Sturmay lost 8-2 to John Epping (Toronto, ON) where Sturmay responded with a 6-2 win over Yves Stocker (Zug, SUI). Sturmay won 7-3 against Paul Cseke (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Sturmay earned 21.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the ATB Okotoks Classic. Sturmay move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 13.687 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 20th overall with 128.994 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Sturmay ranks 18th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 37.500 points earned so far this season.
