In their opening game, Friesen lost 6-2 to Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 7-3 win over Avery Skog (Winnipeg, MB). Friesen went on to lose 5-4 against Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
