Stopera finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stopera defeated Dale Gibbs (St. Paul, MN) 7-4, then won 8-3 against 's Bob Leclair. Stopera went on to lose 5-2 against Chase Sinnett (Chaska, USA). Stopera responded with a 4-1 win over Craig Brown (Madison , WI) in their final qualifying round match.
