Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) won 7-1 over James Pahl (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Original 16 WCT Bonspiel, held November 9 - 11, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Appelman won 7-0 over Daylan Vavrek (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Original 16 WCT Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta; and won 7-2 over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Original 16 WCT Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta;
 
Appelman finished 2-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Pahl 7-5, then won 6-3 against Dan Bubola (Calgary, AB). Appelman went on to lose 6-3 against Kevin Tym (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Original 16 WCT Bonspiel Championship title, Appelman earned 24.060 world rankings points along with the $6,200CDN first prize cheque, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 39th place overall with 101.141 total points. Appelman ranks 32nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 68.527 points earned so far this season.
