Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2018 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-5 against Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO). of the 2018 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada;

McEwen finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Daniel Wenzek (Langley, BC) 6-5, then won 7-4 against Mark Longworth (Vernon, BC) and 4-3 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). McEwen went on to lose 4-3 against Matt Dunstone (Regina, SK). McEwen responded with a 6-1 win over Glen Jackson (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 24.422 world rankings points for their Top 6 finish in the Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic. McEwen move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 20.462 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 9th overall with 339.579 total points on the World Ranking Standings. McEwen ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 160.976 points earned so far this season.
