In their opening game, Koivula defeated Nathan Lohnes (Thunder Bay, NONT) 6-1, then went on to lose 6-3 against Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT). Koivula lost 6-1 to Jordan Chandler (Sudbury, NONT) where Koivula responded with a 4-3 win over Cody Tetreault (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
