Kim finished 2-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim lost 7-5 to Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN), then responded with a 10-2 win over Kanya Shimizuno (Furano, JPN). Kim won 7-3 against Morozumi in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic Championship title, Kim earned 15.094 world rankings points along with the $11,427CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 51st place overall with 82.23 total points. Kim ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.094 points earned so far this season.
