In their opening game, Liu defeated Jason Ackerman (Regina, SK) 5-4, then won 8-7 against John Morris (Vernon, BC) and 5-0 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic Championship title, Liu earned 57.641 world rankings points along with the $12,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 9 spots the World Ranking Standings into 16th place overall with 247.755 total points.
