David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) won 5-1 over Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) in the Final of the Aberdeen International Curling Championship, held March 25 - 27, 2016 in Aberdeen, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Murdoch won 7-1 over Switzerland's Michael Brunner in the semifinals of the 2016 Aberdeen International Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland; and won 9-1 over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in the quarterfinals.
 
Murdoch finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murdoch defeated Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER) 7-6, then won 7-2 against Krystof Tabery (Prague, CZE) and 7-4 against Jia Liang Zang (Harbin, CHN). Murdoch won 8-4 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Aberdeen International Curling Championship Championship title, Murdoch earned 35.878 world rankings points along with the $10,302CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 13th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 15.679 after improving upon their best so far this season. Murdoch ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 246.113 points earned so far this season.
