Assad lost 8-3 to Colin Koivula (Thunder Bay, NONT) where Assad responded with a 6-3 win over David MacInnes (Schumacher, NONT). Assad won 6-3 against Mike Jakubo (Copper Cliff, NONT), then won 6-5 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, NONT) and 9-4 against Robbie Gordon (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
