Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) lost 5-3 to Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the Final of the Cactus Pheasant Classic, held October 29 - November 1, 2009 in Brooks, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Martin won 7-4 over Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta; and won 7-2 over Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

Martin finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Claudio Pescia (St. Galler, SUI) 8-3, then won 6-2 against Markus Eggler (Basel, SUI) and 6-2 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Cactus Pheasant Classic, Martin take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $14,000CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Martin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Martin ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
