Purcell finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Purcell defeated Nicholas Deagle (Halifax, NS) 8-0, then won 10-3 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) and 8-3 against Paul Flemming (Halifax, NS). Purcell went on to lose 6-4 against Thompson. Purcell responded with a 6-4 win over Calan MacIssac (Halifax, NS). Purcell won 7-4 against Colten Steele (Dartmouth, NS), then won 6-4 against Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Ocean Contractors Nova Scotia Mens Curling Championship Championship title, Purcell earned 7.500 world rankings points. Purcell move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 5.062 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 40th overall with 91.078 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
