Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) won 6-2 over Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Red Deer Curling Classic, held November 17 - 20, 2017 in Red Deer, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Bottcher won 6-1 over Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2017 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 7-1 over Dean Joanisse (Maple Ridge, BC) in the quarterfinals.
Bottcher finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bottcher defeated Lowell Peterman (Red Deer, AB) 8-4, then won 6-1 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) and 7-6 against Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN). Bottcher won 7-4 against British Columbia's Tyler Tardi in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Red Deer Curling Classic Championship title, Bottcher earned 35.614 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 16th place overall with 316.191 total points. Bottcher ranks 13th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 160.242 points earned so far this season.
