Gunnlaugson finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gunnlaugson defeated Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB) 9-1, then won 6-5 against Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) and 8-1 against Manitoba's Jordan Smith. Gunnlaugson won 6-3 against Lott in their final qualifying round match.
