Jill Brothers (Halifax, NS) lost 10-4 to Mary Mattatall (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Nova Scotia Scotties, held January 24 - 29, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. To advance to the championship game, Brothers won 7-5 over Theresa Breen (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2017 Nova Scotia Scotties in Halifax, Nova Scotia;

Brothers finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brothers defeated Christie Gamble (Halifax, NS) 5-4, then went on to lose 7-6 against Mattatall. Brothers responded with a 6-4 win over Julie McEvoy (Halifax, NS). Brothers won 7-4 against Breen. Brothers went on to lose 8-6 against Nancy McConnery (Windsor, NS). Brothers responded with a 6-4 win over Kristen MacDiarmid (Halifax, NS). Brothers won 6-5 against Mary-Anne Arsenault (Dartmouth, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Nova Scotia Scotties, Brothers take home 10.725 world rankings points. For week 24 of the event schedule, Brothers did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Brothers ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
