Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) qualified for the 2013 The National playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB).
 
Gushue finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue lost 7-4 to Martin, then responded with a 7-4 win over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Gushue went on to lose 7-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Gushue responded with a 6-5 win over Rob Rumfeldt (Guelph, ON). Gushue won 7-5 against Thomas Ulsrud (oslo, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 18.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the The National, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 13.33 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 107.375 points earned so far this season.
