To advance to the championship game, Martin won 4-3 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2012 Pomeroy Inn & Suites National in Dawson Creek, British Columbia; and won 4-1 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the quarterfinals.
 
Martin finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) 9-2, then won 7-3 against Edin and 8-7 against Jamie King (Edmonton/Calgary, AB). Martin won 8-7 against Brent Bawel (Calgary, AB), then won 9-7 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites National, Martin take home 27.000 world rankings points along with the $16,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 439.320 total points. Martin ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 183.280 points earned so far this season.
