To advance to the championship game, Edin won 8-5 over Switzerland's Markus Eggler in the semifinals of the 2009 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland; and won 7-5 over David Murdoch (Scotland, UK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland;
 
Edin finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated Bernhard Werthemann (Zug, SUI) 6-4, then won 7-2 against Toni Mueller (Baden Regio, SUI) and 9-3 against Switzerland's Sven Iten. Edin went on to lose 6-2 against Switzerland's Markus Eggler. Edin responded with a 6-5 win over Sweden's Per Carlsen. Edin won 6-4 against Stefan Karnusian (St. Moritz, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Swiss Cup Basel, Edin take home 18.400 world rankings points along with the $9,353CDN prize.
