Griffith finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Griffith lost 3-2 to Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB), droppimg another game, 8-7 to Lowell Peterman (Red Deer, AB) where Griffith responded with a 7-5 win over Geoff Humphrey (Red Deer, AB). Griffith won 6-3 against British Columbia's Tom Buchy, then won 5-0 against Mike Jakubo (Sudbury, ON) and 5-4 against Warren Hassall (Lloydminster, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Griffith earned 11.080 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Red Deer Curling Classic.
