Mike Jakubo (Sudbury, ON) finished 2-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jakubo defeated Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) 6-3, then went on to lose 6-1 against Brad Heidt (Kindersley, SK). Jakubo lost 6-5 to Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) where Jakubo responded with a 7-6 win over Rob Krepps (Edmonton, AB). Jakubo went on to lose 5-0 against Tyrel Griffith (Kelowna, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
