Ulrik Schmidt (Copenhagen, DEN) qualified for the 2009 World Cup of Curling playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-2 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). of the 2009 World Cup of Curling in Mississauga, Ontario;
 
Schmidt finished 4-2 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schmidt lost 9-3 to Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON), then responded with a 5-3 win over John Shuster (Duluth, MN, USA). Schmidt won 8-3 against David Murdoch (Scotland, UK), then won 6-5 against Andy Kapp (Fuessen, GER). Schmidt went on to lose 9-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). Schmidt responded with a 5-4 win over Switzerland's Markus Eggler in their final qualifying round match.
 
Schmidt earned 18.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the World Cup of Curling.
