Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) run at the 2009 World Cup of Curling came to an end in the semifinals with a 6-4 loss to Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB). of the 2009 World Cup of Curling in Mississauga, Ontario; Gushue advanced through the quarterfinals with a 8-2 win over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB).
Gushue finished 3-3 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue lost 4-3 to John Shuster (Duluth, MN, USA), droppimg another game, 7-1 to Andy Kapp (Fuessen, GER) where Gushue responded with a 6-5 win over Switzerland's Markus Eggler. Gushue went on to lose 4-1 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON). Gushue responded with a 6-2 win over David Murdoch (Scotland, UK). Gushue won 9-4 against Ulrik Schmidt (Copenhagen, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.
Gushue earned 22.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the World Cup of Curling. For week of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
