Koe and Alberta playdowns
Can someone explain why Koe, Kennedy, Laing and Hebert don't appear on the Alberta playdowns listings? I know Morris, Simmons, Rycroft and Thiessen are team Canada this year, but did Koe get an auto berth to the Alberta Provincials?

Yes. Team koe, as the crts points leader among alberta teams got to provincials directly .

They do. Alberta awards 4 direct entries to provincials. One is for the defending champion, one for the CRTS points leader on the main tour and then 2 more spots for the 2 teams to have accumulated the most points at events held in alberta.
bottcher get the spot for the defending champions although i have no idea how because he is not the defending champion..in fact he didnt even make the playoffs last year. I know koe wasnt eligable because he has a completely new team.
lizmore and sluchinski got the 2 spots from the alberta points leaders.

Thanks Misty1, you explained that process extremely well. Ontario should take a page from that book.

Your welcome
Saskatchewan does things the same way and i really think they have the best systems in place. Manitoba has a good one too but , i feel they just let to many teams in and then there's the whole double elimination in the top 8 thing which i have a problem with.

The AB one has been a huge improvement over what they did in the past... about the only thing they could do now is go to a 16 team prov which would make for a better draw, but the 12 is definitely a good prov.
On the women's side, you had Sweeting as defending champ, Nedohin with the top CRTS pts, and Carey and Scheidegger as the top two AB tour pts leaders. I like this method because it rewards the AB tour so you can keep it flourishing with some great bonspiels.

I believe they went with 2 CTRS teams this year as the defending champion became Team Canada. Not sure if runner-up would have been eligible for the spot, but they (Martin) do not exist anymore as a team either.
