Starts this coming Wednesday
It is held from the 18th to the 24th...
Should the event go off without a hitch, I expect this venue will be used to host the World Mens Championships next March/April.
I am still trying to find out about updates and scores. The Chinese Curling Association's website has not been updated since the PACCs and the Yichun event from last November.

Yes quite basic information but no "result page" yet. Shame that there isn't more... I have written to the Chinese curling association, let's hope ...!
Difficult to have results when the event hasn't started yet.

If you read well, I said "result page" no "results"... just like on curling zone where you can easily find linescores even before the matches have begun.... so next time read better before silly comments !!!

FYI
+12 Hour time difference between Toronto and Beijing...
Therefore Draw 1 just started.
Apparently, Jennifer Jones gave up 2 in the first end in her match against Ji-Sun "Jessica" Kim
I have 6 friends who will be at the Gymnasium Centre for a portion of the China Open.

The linescore actually shows Jones is up 3-0 after two ends

Kerry Barr
Can someone tell me about this team...
Tied with Chelsea and Betty for 1st after Day 1. I have to admit that the only Scottish Womens Curlers I know are Eve and Gail Munro.
Has she come from the Jr. Ranks like Eve?

Hi CS
Kerry is a couple of years older than Eve. She certainly skipped a fair bit as a junior. One VERY significant win was in 2006 when her team won the European Junior Challenge in Prague, to keep Scotland in the World Juniors later that season. Had Kerry's rink not won in Prague, Scotland (Sarah Reid's team with Eve playing third) would not have been in Eveleth, and Eve would not have won her first World Junior Gold.
The following season in 2008, Kerry actually played 3rd for Eve, when Scotland won World Junior Gold in Ostersund, Sweden.
She aged out of juniors then. Since then, she has won the European Mixed, and has certainly been very much part of the Scottish scene. You can find her picture cropping up if you search the Skip Cottage Curling archive.
This is a new foursome for this season though. All are experienced curlers, if not quite as well known as the members of Team Muirhead.

Thanks for the update Bob!
When it was announced that the Chinese Curling Association was planning the China Open there were rumours on which teams would be invited (Eve & Edin mentioned the most), and both are in Brockville for the Shorty.
I too fall into the category of Scottish Curling is "Eve, Murdoch/Brewster and that is it," like the fanbase in the Motherland. In light of Eve not being able to defend her Scottish title due to Sochi, is Barr a favourite to represent Scotland at the Saint John Worlds?

The teams that are expected to do well are those skipped by Hannah Fleming (funded in the 'Podium Squad' - see RCCC website, under Performance tab) and Lorna Vevers and Jennifer Martin (both in the 'Performance Squad'). Other sides could well cause upsets. It's too early in the season to see who's on form!
Hannah's team won world junior gold in 2012, and then silver last season in Sochi, losing to Russia in an extra end.
At senior level, they came second to Eve's team in the Scottish Women's final last season. Good team! Debbie Knox (Olympic gold as Rhona Martin's 3rd) has been their coach for many years.
