Tuck, I shared your joke with some folks when I was in Madison this weekend, and it was a big hit. It was also explained to me why there is no trophy in the basement!!
I'm definitely looking forward to Grafton!!

Sorry to ruin the legend...but there is really the World's silver plate for second place in that basement inbetween the cases of beer, booze and sweatshirts. Truth. Seen it with my own eyes.
Surely there is somebody reading this thread whom I've escorted down to look at it. Vouch for me.

Faircloth puts a beating on Petrov, Lindstrom over Shaw wasn't the blowout the score indicates. Bykowski was in firm control over Bialek the whole game, and Galebach's draw in the ee is overswept a foot long.
Yep, it's the GNCC clubs....

Tuck, you couldn't find it when you tried to show it to myself and the Rocket Scientist, so until I hear someone else say they've personally seen it down there, I consider it a legend rather than a true story.

Sounds like I am going into the basement of a bar in Grafton, ND with a guy I don't know to clear this up! I guess I will just hope I don't end up pregnant!
I will be on the webcast at 7pm tonight if anyone is tuning in!

Starting to worry about Tuck. Taking Mrs. Shaw to the basement, okay, taking the Punk and the Rocket Scientist to the basement, just a bit creepy.
Back to the topic, one name rock star Ivo gets a beat down from the recently returned Chris Faircloth. Faircloth went to the clubs twice back when my knees still worked. He was there to witness the 13 ends in Utica.
Webstreaming the 7:00 pm game could be fun. We probably will have our own version of "curling after dark".
Tough schedule with 3 game days on Friday and Saturday.

Faircloth brutalizes Bykowski (by David's own admission...), Shaw just never gets any breaks and loses to Stefanik, Bialek was firmly in control the whole way against Robinson, and Galebach got the shots he needed to be up 7-2, so Petrov's 2 in the 9th just got him within 3, and eventually, he ran out of rocks.

Faircloth locks up at least a TB with a win this morning to go 6-0. Ivo scored 7 in the first end then had to hang on for a 11-9 win.
Bialek, Ivo and Stefanik all need to win out and hope for help. Bialek does play Faircloth tonight so can help his own cause. Ivo plays Stefanik in the last draw so one of them has no chance.

I'm assuming there's nothing more than a simple double knockout provision in effect for this? Assuming that's the case, one more Faircloth win advances them to nationals. A win in the next draw renders the entire final RR draw moot.

Once again, SPM is correct (probably happens more than Tuck being right). Yes, a team Faircloth win tonight seals the deal. However he is playing Bialek who is still mathematically alive with 2 losses. Stefanik and one name rock star Ivo lost and now have 3 losses.
The game is on sheet A so we need everyone watching to ask for that game. It is the only game that matters at this point.
Now, would they decide not to play tomorrow morning if Chris wins? Guess it would be up to the head official.
JH
of course I am rooting for Faircloth, I like Frykenstein although I am not sure why

Tey must plat Sunday morning, and even potentially a tiebreaker, as we must identify a clear 2nd place as well, I am told.

That is correct, not just in case the winner for some reason can't go, but also in the event the GNCC gets an extra spot if some other region doesn't have a playdown.

Makes sense due to the fill policy and in case a team has to withdraw but hopefully tiebreakers are not needed. I highly doubt the fill policy will be needed this year, and if it they were, MoPac had 10 teams.

NO tiebreakers necessary.
Faircloth goes perfect through the RR to take the berth. Bialek escapes Galebach stealing 4 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to take 2nd place.
Now that the event is over, I can say that the curling was solid and excellent on all team's parts, but it was obvious from game one that Faircloth was going to run away with this. Bialek was the only team that gave them a real challenge, taking them to an extra end.
I like Faircloth's chances in Minnesota...and if Bialek happens to get in via fill...I wouldn't sleep on them either.

Hopefully the national event will actually be broadcast this year - Although it would be hard to top the great job of broadcasting that some of the regions did.

Hey folks...had a great time this weekend. Great competition and although my hopes weren't too high had a couple of great wins and really proud of the guys on my team for pushing through that draw. Had some trouble getting some games together but that was expected as we only get league play once every other week but that we can throw down with the best of them when we do and get the confidence level rolling.
Again, thanks to all who organized this event, the volunteers and the great new friends that we made. You'll see us again....maybe mixed? Lol

Ps not sure how many people in here I have actually met with the exception of Alan MacNeill posting as "Alan MacNeill"

You will met me when you come to Arena Nats this year in Lansing. I promise a great time.
Looked like a great playdown, lots of teams pretty evenly matched. 8 games in 4 days is a great primer for Club Nationals.
