The front end of Northern Ontario are not good judges of draw weight and come playoff time that weakness is going to bite them in the ass

Question: if we end up with a mess of tie-breakers, when would they take place? One draw of tiebreakers is scheduled for this PM, but if they need another draw would it be done during the 1v2 game tonight?

Up to three (3) rounds of tiebreakers possible.

Nevermind, Einarson took care of business with a 3 in the 10th.

Sounds like a good shot was made by kerri to win. Never the less there are 4 provinces that are fairly upset with N.B. giving up a 3 ender to lose. 2 provinces are very happy.

Could the round robin end on a more dramatic note
With Sylvie's missed shot and Kerri's double, NB relegated, 3 teams eliminated from tiebreakers, 1 team advances to the 3/4 Game.
Have to pick Team CANADA to take this home, Carey beat them in Draw 1 but that was a week ago, Jones more sharp now.

Time for NB to get a new coach.
I'll defend the NB coach by saying he wanted them to play the double peel and spill the red into the house, but the team overruled it saying they didn't feel comfortable with that shot
Also, NB basically had the shot to win by simply drawing top 4 and sitting two. The NB guard strategy almost worked in all seriousness! One great thing about curling is that there is more than one way to skin a cat

What an absolutely embarrassing display of strategy by team New Brunswick. I guess they will pay for it when forced to play in the relegation round next year.
Funny to think about Russ's comments on how this team will likely challenge for a playoff spot. I guess that's likely his home province bias soaking through.

I think it's fair to say that the truly best four teams have made the playoff round. My money is on Jones but I would love for a new team to win it all.

It was execution, not strategy. There was probably only one spot on the rink to give up three, and they put it there.

I agree. If it is, let it be the Manitoba team. A great Scotties being a Manitoban. We can obviously be very proud of our gals.

Yes poor execution was part of the problem, but when you are up two points playing the 4 rock rule, the worst case scenario is you give them two and have hammmer in extra end.

She missed a big one in the 10th.. And it was very makeable Luckily for her her skip bailed her out

The standings may have been close, but the statistics for the week really show Team Canada dominating.
Cumulative Statistics for the week
1st in every position.
Team Percentages:
Canada (Jones): 87% (+25)
Alberta (Carey): 84% (-2)
Ontario (Hanna):83% (-2)
N. Ontario (McCarville):82% (-9)
Manitoba (Einarson): 82% (-12)
It's crazy that Team Canada had a cumulative +/- of +25 while every other team is negative.

It was bad strategy that got them in the pickle they were in. The only reason NB even had a reasonable chance at winning that game in the 10th end was the miss by the MB third on her last shot. You could see the 3 coming as soon as the team opted to throw the centre guard coming out of the timeout.

Even Russ was barely maintaining his composure in the booth, talking about the incredibly poor decision making in that final end. It felt like he was doing all he could to not jump out, run down on the ice and smack them to say "smarten up!" I got a chuckle out of it. It really was a poorly managed end (from both teams, actually...) and Manitoba made a solid shot to win it.

I feel just a little bad for Sask and the others but never ever go 6-5 and still think you should still be playing....

It must be a mentally exhausting week for those teams that aren't used to the WCT grind. MB and NB put on exciting performances all week - my guess is they don't have much left in the tank. For as good as McCarville looked in the early draws, her team stumbled into a 2-3 finish with a lot of mental mistakes.
They are all great physically fit athletes, but these might just be signs of being pooped after a long stressful week. The two teams most used to it, Carey and Jones, handled it best.
I did have a blast watching the games all week.

I certainly felt Russ' pain at that gob smackingly bad strategy exhibition by Team NB in the 10th. I have no skin in that game what so ever and still it was excruciating to watch. Their coach was absolutely right that they should peel the yellow guard. And after their guard came in and MB hit and rolled under to lie second and third Russ was absolutely right that they had to come in behind the corner to lie 1 and 2 if they wanted any hope of getting out of this mess.
And NO! there was no other way to skin this particular cat. You cannot under any circumstances create a scenario where MB will have a shot for the win. I.e. Angle raise for 3.
Even if NB makes their shots their strategy guaranteed that MB would be able to get two rocks in and on last rock have a shot for the win. The very thing they could not let happen no matter what was what they guaranteed. Can you say 'opposites land'? If they hadn't earned relegation before that end they certainly earned it there.
