Their program sure makes a strong case for sending a national championship winner rather than a tour leader (like the U.S.). It's all about who gets hot this time of year.

i seriously doubt she will lose to russia. anna just folds when she plays canadian teams. the one victory russia has was over amber holland when lucy was still part of the squad

It's a bit sad that Canadiens can't come together and root for them no matter who the rep is, I'm a huge team Homan fan, but I've got no issue with Jones repping us, they are a great team no doubt and deserve to be there, based on this season I would rather have them there than Homan even, as Homan have not been up to their past standards.

I'm in complete agreement with misty here. Although I'm obviously pulling my home country Canada, in all honesty I prefer seeing young and coming teams do well, really looks good for the future of curling. The Swiss team always seems to have a positive attitude so I find it really easy to cheer for them. Congrats to them for having such a fantastic week so far, they definitely deserve the spot in the gold medal game. Most consistent team all week and although their percentages weren't always the best (correct me if I'm wrong), they always made the right shots at the right time. Still hoping Canada can pull through the semi-final but in reality, I'm fine with any of the 3 remaining teams to win. Obviously for the Swiss team, it would be a huge confidence boost for Paetz and would look fantastic for Swiss curling, 3 world golds since 2012 with 3 different teams. Russia and Sidorova winning would prove that they really are here to compete and would look great for Russian women's curling. Hard work has really paid off. And obviously Canada because, well, it's my country and the team is good enough to win.

Just because one may be from Canada doesn't mean they can't cheer for anyone else.

Well tbf, there were a couple of cracks in that Swiss watch, just not enough to break, in the final I expect they will break.

I get that, how I do it though is I will pull for my favorite teams regardless of nation on the tour, but when it comes to international event's I'll only pull for my home nation, but I'll admit I was a bit happy to see Russia over Scotland, but now that they will play Canada it's Canada all the way.

I agree. The Swiss pretty much dominated the game. Their mistakes, late in ends, kept it close. If Canada gets another crack at her, and I obviously hope they do, you wonder if Jones will try a different strategy.

There's a difference between cheering for a good young rink to do well in a neutral game, and cheering for that young rink to do well against Canada. You either cheer for your home country or you don't. You can't sugar coat it and say I'm patriotic, but I'm cheering for the other team as well. This is not an event that Canada wins year after year. If you can't cheer for a Jones, a Homan, or a Sweeting to bring home the gold, then at least admit you don't like the individual representing Canada. That's likely being more honest.

i dont like jones and i am very open about that. however , as i said its not like i am actively hoping for her to lose.

if canada wins im happy but it doesnt make a bad canadian to cheer for others. just like the part of me that likes a good underdog story and like to cheer for the little guy doesnt make me a bad canadian when i cheer for slovakia in hockey even over canada.

Save for the trollers and haters!

So you have to criticize Jones when she is playing well, how nice.

Only other team besides Paetz I've seen control Jones as much as Paetz did is Rachel Homan. She marked Jen real hard in their STOH final.

And maybe Kelly Scott years ago when Jen didn't have a sharp-shooter like Lawes and a top lead like McEwen.

You take every opportunity to be quite unrealistic about Jones, it's no secret you don't like them, but the fact remains they are the best in the world by a lot, so their last game really does not mean anything, they still have another chance to get it done, don't count them out yet.

At least some curling fans are a different breed, they can't seem to get it through their heads that this is a nation vs. nation event and not a tour one.

Yeah sure, go for others, just as long as Canada is #1 until they are out preferably.

Appearently they aren't if they are not cheering for their own nations team's before the others, no matter what you think of them the rest of the season.

I couldn't care less who you cheer for. Nothing says you have to cheer for your home country and it doesn't make you a bad Canadian if you don't. But your suggestion that you don't like Jones, but you're not actively hoping she loses is almost certainly disingenuous. At least be a little more honest about it.

Obviously, that changes if you're behind by 2 or more - even 1.

But isn't the guard the easier shot than the in house takeout, you did know their were other guards already covering right, so if Russia put another guard there it would have been quite difficult for Scotland to even get 1.

The Worlds are supposed to be about hoping your nation shows well enough or gets a medal, not about which teams you prefer, or not liking the rep from your nation, save that for the tour. Like I said before even though I like team Homan, I'm happy with whoever rep's Canada, because I know that they are likely to play for a medal, which is all you can really be happy about, I also believe that Jones are the best team for CANADA right now, so again I'm quite happy.

Yes, but look, some nations only have maybe 1 rep anyway like China, Canada are spoiled with really good teams, so really we need to look past that sort of thing, like I said save it for the tour and the TOH, but once a team has won the TOH we should acknowledge that and support them at the Worlds no matter what.

But maybe you aren't like that, is it that you just like the game itself more than anything, but you do seem to like teams, or is it teams that curl well, if it is then Jones does curl well, or is the type of game they play you don't like?
