2016 pacific Curling Championship
I actually forgot this was on this week but , reading another post i was reminded of it.
as usual china, japan and south korea will be the favorites. China will look to bounce back after a championship last year that saw men and women missing worlds.
i'll take bingyu wang for the women and yusuke morozumi for the men.
but what agreats ight to see qatar competing in their first ever event. im kind of waiting for thailand to come in...
chinese taipei fields a mens team and sometimes they field a womens team but not this year

What's finish in the game between the Chinese and Korean ladies bingyu missed a takeout in the tenth that allowed Korea to score 3 . then in the extra China ran out of time just as bingyu was about to execute the winning shot. Korea really got away with one.

Scores of 20-1, 19-4!!! I thought there was a rule that once it was mathematically impossible to win, you conceded. This is a championship not Tuesday night skips draft.
While encouraging new countries to play, maybe it's time to consider a B championship for new countries.

the only way these countries will get better is by playing the best. lets give qatar some slack here

Bingyu Wang lost her first match because she ran out of time in the extra end. That's more shocking than the lopsided scorelines.

bingyu has been around long enough where she'll be able to bounce back but thats a tough loss to take for anyone. had full control, they were the better team and then just 2 miss at the end an unfortunately running out of time in the extra and thats it i still think they're winning this but thats a rough start
and also..check out the chinese teams pants.

Rather then using a championship as a training camp, a better scenario would be for the WCF to fund these teams to travel to Canada and play in some cashspiels...they'll get some good competition and have access to some good resources at the same time...

That is a good idea. The scores are truly just reflective of "practice" games and do not do much for the Pacific-Asia teams that are in contention, and are prepping for PyeongChang. I am surprised that the Aussies got whomped so pathetically though. Something has to change. China Japan Korea and NZ? I'm calling Korea.

they arent the only country to go through tough starts. look back at the results some strong nations had in their first appearances. they all have losses that arent pretty
and while your idea is a good one we all know that isnt happening. first of all they'd have to agree to that(the teams themselves) and it would cost a lot of money , which i doubt the WCF would be willing to put up.

I watched the replay of the 23-1 Korea over Australia game last night which included a 7 ender where Australia threw into a pile and managed to get one out and save giving up the 8 ender.
The Australian team is not ready for this competition. They couldn't win a women's league in the States, much less Canada. It is the equivalent of allowing an 8 minute miler go to against a 4 minute miler. Wait, let's make that a 12 minute miler.
The shot's just aren't there and it is apparent there is absolutely no chance they can compete with any of the real teams. I disagree that you learn anything while getting beat 23-1.
A developmental league is needed, this is bordering on the ridiculous.
Just looked and this same Australian team beat Qatar 21-2?!?
Wow.

There is a mercy rule already. Did Qatar play any game longer than the required 6 ends?

Looked like they played 7 but some of their other games went to 9 ends!

Women's Final ..... CHINA- KOREA...
China won the second women’s semi-final at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2016.
Skip Bingyu Wang and her team, defeated the defending champions, Japan, 6-3, to secure their place in Saturday’s (12 November) final, to be played at 09.00 (Korean Standard Time) – live on World Curling TV and national broadcasters.
This also means that – with China hosting the next World Women’s Curling Championship in Beijing – Korea who won their semi-final earlier in the day have also qualified for the Worlds, which will be held between 18-26 March 2017.
