My guess is Glenn will only need one player this year. It is just a guess mind you.

If Things are okay with glenn and john epping I wonder if he'd consider picking him up to play for him

I know someone on here said that glenn didn't really appreciate the way epping dumped his son

Liven up the Skins

That Skips line-up fits in to an idea I have at the Skins.

The positions play each other.

Semi #1) Skips v Leads

Semi #2) Vices v Seconds.

My reason for the match-ups is that the one with the most audience appeal would be the Skips v Leads and the only way to ensure they play is to match them up in the first game.

The second semi has the allure of the seconds proving they should be throwing vice rock:-)

In both cases there would be seriously bragging rights to be had.

The other option is to have the front end play against the back end. And they pick the teams and positions in a televised event. With the added drama of how they pick who will play what position. They could do it by anonymous ballot. Lots of possibilities.

I think it would be a hoot and a lot more fun than the current format.

Joan McCusker is always going on about the 'Front end Union', with Harris and Howard and Hart back-end players. They for sure would talk it up the right way.

They would have a worse sweeping front end than many of the guys who curled when you could smoke on the ice. You may as well just have Ferbey out there leaning on a broom.

Martin is a good sweeper, the rest of them not so much.

No need for a smiley face. Actually Kevin Martin would be a very capable sweeper if he played front end. Not in the Harndens and Kennedy/Hebert class but still OK. I remember watching him sweep in the Hot Shots competition one year and you could tell he was working hard. He is very strong and quite fit. Don't let the lack of hair fool you. Even watching him sweep rocks behind the tee you can tell there is serious pressure on the broom.

John Epping rumoured to be looking out west for a team. He played with Jon Mead a few years ago the last time Mead left Stoughton. I could see that happening with McEwen's front end or BJ & Denny (assuming they are a package deal).

Not true at all. Great sweepers can make marginal shots perfect and marginal sweepers can screw up any perfect throw. Any decent skip knows he is nothing without good sweepers.

I do think Martin is a good sweeper. We usually only get to see it for 6 feet at a time tho.
Can't say for judging weight, if he has ever played front end, its been 40 years.

There is quite a bit of difference sweeping a rock that is going 1/2 foot per second and one that is going 25 feet per second.

Martin sweeps way more than 6 feet. When the opponent's rock is heavy, he is usually sweeping it by the time it hits the top four foot, and he has also been warming the ice since the rock hit the hog line.

HUGE NEWS.

Team Homan has a lineup change - Alison Kreviazuk is moving to Sweden to be with her boyfriend, and they've brought in an absolutely stellar replacement in Joanne Courtney.

You can only assume that, assuming Alison wishes to continue curling every Swedish team is going to go hard for her.

think we'll see ali with Swedish colors?

That explains why she looked so emotional during the last half of the game. Looking like she was crying everytime the camera panned to her.

I believe there's a WCF rule that you have to wait a certain number of years before you can represent a new country at the world level. There was some discussion about this during the short-lived Gunnlaugson in Russia experiment, and after Kelly Wood moved from Scotland to Canada.

2 years. Alison would also have to gain Swedish citizenship, which will take some time to get anyways. But I expect to see Ali on a team somewhere along the way.

Canada's loss is Sweden's gain! It is refreshing to see a curler choose life over sport. But she will be missed. Frederik was in St. John watching her too.

It is such a pain to bring a foreign spouse to Canada these days, no wonder she chose to go to Sweden. I hope it works out for them.

So now Ms. Sweeting will be on the hunt for a new third. Good luck to Joanne with team Homan.
