Players Championship

To all GTA area curlers...time to leave your armchairs and buy tickets or a pass to the Players Championship in Toronto April 16 - 21. Those that belong to TCA clubs can get a discount, ask your club. Let's show Canada that Toronto can put bums in seats at curling events.

Very different kind of schedule for the guys (and gals). In many cases just one game a day over 4 days. 8 out of 15 make champ. round. Only 4 games per team. Probably 2 losses will be into tie-breakers. Wouldn't it be odd if 3 losses got you a TB.

I would be more odd if every team finished at 2-2, a 15 way tie for first.

Yup, good to see that the stupidity of the RR, small groups continues to prevail. Hope there's a ****load of teams at 2-2 so maybe the WCT will stop this nonsense.

Pretty easy solution:

1 team gets a bye into the playoffs based on the best shootout score, and the remaining 14 teams play 1 game for a playoff spot. 7 games, 7 playoff spots.

Problem is with four sheets of ice that adds almost two full tiebreaker draws, and that's just the men's event... If you have a ridiculous string of bad luck and have it happen both on the men's and women's side, they could need up to four tiebreaker draws.

Granted, the likelihood of that happening is very slim, however if it happens the WCT is setting themselves up for a nightmare.
