RIP Del Hickling - Ontario
Hickling, Delbert 'Del' --- Jul 13 1921 - May 31 2013
Following a brief illness, "Papa Del" as he was affectionately known to family and friends, passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Friday May 31st, 2013.
He was 91.
Del is predeceased by his loving wife Norma (nee Harper) to whom he was married for over 45 years. He is lovingly survived by his children Don (Colleen), Gregg (Barbara), Norm (Sheila), Glenn (Susan), Sande, Debbie (Craig Somerville), 10 adoring grandchildren and 13 cherished great-grandchildren.
Born on July 13, 1921 in Cantaur Saskatchewan, Del was a WWII veteran, a retiree of Loblaws and an avid curler up until his 90th birthday.
A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at Guelph General Hospital for the care and comfort provided to Del.
Family will receive friends at the Blue Springs Funeral Home, 12 Church St East, Acton Ontario L7J 1K4, Tuesday June 4th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute at 6:45. Service will be in the funeral home chapel, Wednesday, June 5th 2013 at 11:00 am.
Del demonstrated throughout his life that a greater happiness lies in helping others. For those who wish and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honour to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
