Did they button down or "batten down the hatches"? Maybe the ships in MB only need buttons. There were many stories swirling when Cathy O went to Charlottetown for the Scotties in the months following the ceremonial dumping. 99% of the crowd were on her side and she received a standing ovation when she beat Jones. As she usually does any time she beats her with any team she's on playing against her. What does that say?
the average iq of the crowd = the average % of the crowd if they had been playing ...
sorry - clearly only about 5 people knew the reason for the split and them that does aint talking ... for sure there was a significant reason ....
nothing much shallower than the spare pool in competitive curling .. nedohin, overton, morris, charly thomas , casey and maybe 3 others - in the last 50 years - total.
oh and ml is usually available but not on week ends - somehow appropriately freudian
there are about 50 curling gladiators that partake in our bread and circus for the past 15 years with about 5 retirees - they make far less than the 8 announcers ... kept in the loop by the every 4 year mecca to the podium in search of " my precious " - to everyone but the faithful million 75 year old ++ viewers - the sport is unbelievably boring to watch - so the broomgates, burnt rocks, a few annoying personalities , firings and hirings, and accidents , etc provide a bit of extra interest so we will endure the slow pace of the game - " i like that shot " repeated endlessly and the mostly dreaful and repetive commercials ....
happy new year !
if anyone needs a ride home from winnipeg airport at 3:30 am just txt me - meeting the queen coming from vancouver 3.5 hrs late - better than the 4 hours late last week when she headed west. - it snowed and rained for ten days in vancouver and nanaimo where she visited .. her plane home came from edm and circled for an hour before returning to edm for 2 hours and then came back to fly her home to wpg in 2 hours -.. airlines are like farmers , its all about weather !!!
just trying to drag this delightful conversation out til abt tuesday , when the next curling starts
The theory that Jenny realized in the 2009/2010 season that
'O could not stand up to the rising threat of Miskew may be partially correct, but probably not correct at all.
Back in '09 Miskew was just 20 years of age, still in Junior curling. When Jenny played against Homan in 2007 - the only time they competed prior to the 2010 season - 'O did outcurl Miskew - so why this would cause Jenny undue concern is questionable, at best.
What must have and what should have caused her deep, deep concern was that she had just been outsmarted and outcurled by Homan, a teenager from Ottawa who at that point was too young to even qualify for the Scotties.
you can curl 90% and lose , everybody beats everybody , with the exception of broomgate there arent many winning streaks ..The top teams have made a very obvious and conscious decision to gamble at some point in the game so they arent 1 up coming home without last brick... aka - " dakissadeath"
they need a couple of deuces or a 3 or 4 every game to win the final ...
methinks its the three , four, five rock free guard that is the great equalizer
sooooo - if the gamble end has a miss or supershot - doesnt mean you were outcurled - just means the system to have multiple winners worked...
the other equalizer that the curlers and announcers cover up is arena ice - paper falling from the ceiling , brooms pounding the pebble to backlane ice with unprdictable runs, temperature and humidity changes , multiple pics - ice crystals and sand or the magic from nowhere pics - these are particularly decisive on last rock of the last end - or drawing for 1 against 5 in the fourth.
