team Koe struggled in the alberta provincials, coming up the C side, but still made it. they have had an up and down year. I think all year long, and other years they have made "uncharacteristic" mistakes when they have not even qualified for the brier.

regardless they played their best. It is inconceivable to me that they would not represent their country to the best of their ability. I can not understand how any one can suggest that.

I hope your not lumping me in with all those others who are criticizing their performance and saying we should be ashamed of them.

I was simply pointing out that they weren't at their best here and that scoring 2 in 9 would not mean a guaranteed trip to the final for them.

increases their chances sure but nothing is a guarantee

Don't forget the 2-5 record at the Trials, but also the Slam win against a tough field in Medicine Hat. There's a reason Team Koe is making changes, and it's been an up and own season for the team.

As for guarantees, I think what you're looking for is a guaranteed Gold medal and there's no such thing. Jacobs didn't win Gold last year and had their struggles as well. Even at the Olympics, they had a couple hiccups early.

Right on! Nice to hear the voice of reason.

I love the fact that the world teams are improving and there is competition out there. The wins are hard fought and well earned. I still have mixed feelings about the fully funded teams but that is my problem to sort out in my mind.

nope nothing personal. did not even use the word ashamed. Just surprised at how the armchair curlers know what should have been done instead of what was done. So easy from the comforts of home and a bevy in hand
I just wanted to point out that they had a real up and down year, and Gerry added some numbers to mine to support my comment.

change can be good. Nolan said he was disappointed not to be asked to be part of that team and yet he wrote a very solid piece about the team, and the game. No anger there. He could have used that blog to spew venom, but instead he wrote about his hopes for the future. very positive. Classy. Does he feel differently than what he said? who knows. we can speculate for ever. I for one will take his message at face value.

They have one more big event. Might be interesting to see if Koe loses his composure and actually shows the emotions of ending his long time partnership. Even Mark Nichols shed a tear when departing team Gushue. Now that will be a tough last spiel.

Agree. I love that Canada cant just walk in and expect to win gold anymore. Growth in sport is always good, I don't know why people cant be happy about it.

They are splitting. Carter is changing his plans so they can keep the Team Canada designation and privileges. Next year will look different just like every year. People come and go. I am curious about Gushue...what about Mark Nichols???

But I do not know what they will do so I will just wait until they announce what next season will bring.

I couldn't agree more. They showed a lot of passion in Beijing. I don't know how anyone could have missed it.

Read this and see if one doesn't change their mind on the whole Team Koe lineup, decisions and friendship.

Passion? Are you deluded? They constantly, more than the Brier, questioned Koes calls. If you knew anything about team dynamics you'd know thats a sign of a team that's done.

Or in this case, a team who had recently learned their skip had dumped them and had enough. If they win a single game at the players I'll be surprised. But they won't make the playoffs.
