Jamie Sinclair wins ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling
Jamie Sinclair (Blaine, Minnesota) wins the ASHAM US Open of Curling, defeating Nina Roth (Blaine, Minnesota) 5-1 at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minnesota, United States. Sinclair with Alexandra Carlson at third, Vicky Persinger and Monica Walker on the front end take home the $6,305CDN first place cheque along with 28.962 world ranking points, while Roth receives $3,783CDN and 22.756 world ranking points for their second place finish. After blanking first 2 ends, Sinclair stole 3 in the third end to take an early lead, added another steal in the fourth end. Roth scored a single in the fifth end to trail 4-1, with Sinclair scoring a single in the sixth end for the 5-1 win. In the semifinals, Sinclair defeated Susan Froud (Barrie, Ontario) 5-3 and Roth defeated Allison Pottinger (Saint Paul, MN) 6-5. Froud and Pottinger earned $3,026CDN and 17.584 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Sinclair defeated Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 9-2. Robertson earned $1,765CDN along with 12.412 ranking points for their quarterfinal finish. Sinclair went 3-2 in the 10 team triple knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Sinclair defeated Elena Stern (Wetzikon, Switzerland) 7-2, losing their next game to Pottinger 7-3 dropping to the B-Event Sinclair responded with a 7-0 win over Sarah Anderson (Blaine, Minnesota). then lost their next game to Roth 6-4 to drop into the C event, where Sinclair posted a 10-3 win over Cora Farrell (Blaine, Minnesota) in their C-Qualifier. |
